Introduction to Blacksmithing

Introduction to Blacksmithing  Dates: Saturday, March 21st & Saturday, March 28th Time: 8:30am-2:00 pm Cost: $125 per person Student Requirements: Prospective students must be 16 or older.  During the class, they should wear cotton clothes (jeans, cotton shirts, etc.) or other spark-resistant wear. Nylon is not recommended. Since this is held in an open shop during the winter, a cotton jacket is also recommended, as well as heavy shoes or boots.  Required wear includes leather or strong cotton gloves and safety glasses (students should bring their own). Students should expect to get dirty! Description: This is a “Basics of Blacksmithing” course designed to provide an introduction to forging metalwork using a hammer and anvil.  Students will be exposed to key techniques such as operating coal and gas forges, hammer work, bending, twisting, and more. Spend the day discovering how this canal town was founded and learn about the history of its people. What Women Want

What Women Want – A Night Out Just for Women will take place on April 25th at 5:30pm at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum. The Evening’s Highlights: 5:30 P.M. – Arrive to music, check in, and sip on wine as you browse and bid in the Silent Auction. 6:30 P.M. – A sit-down dinner begins, served by black-tie waiters. Chef Mike Cichon, renowned for his culinary artistry, has crafted an exceptional menu to tantalize your taste buds. The Auction – Bid on incredible packages, from gourmet dinners and exclusive outings to luxurious getaways. Fan-favorite items, like a private dinner for eight at the museum prepared by Chef Cichon, will be up for grabs! Follow @jhmuseum31 on Facebook and Instagram for sneak peeks. Tickets & Enhancements: Tickets: $75 (includes dinner & a complimentary wine ticket). Friends of the Museum members receive an extra wine ticket! Want to elevate your experience? Coshocton Flint Festival & Knap-in

This event will be at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds. Come & join us for a fun and educational weekend. Witness craftsmen demonstrate how to make arrowheads, spears, stone tools, bows, cordage, and other items from hide and bone. Jewelry makers and other artisans will be set up as well. Bring along some of the Native American artifacts you and your family have found to learn more about them. All artifacts, fossils, rocks, and minerals are welcome. Educational Demos start at 10am | Auction starts at 2:30pm | Ten Speed Knapping Contest. Artifact Identification at Bear Hollow Flint Works Booth on Saturday prior to the auction. Crowtown Throwdown Myotonic Goat Show is July 18 & 19 at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds. This is a national show sanctioned by the Myotonic Goat Registry based in Alabama. This is a fun filled show with unique prizes, raffles, food stand, and a smooth and fun show environment. This public is welcome to this event to see the beautiful goats!
