Coshocton is home to Historic Roscoe Village, a functioning canal boat, numerous wineries and breweries, and even Bigfoot–apparently.
While someone can take the easy way out and find Bigfoot via numerous signs and memorabilia sold in shops around town, there is a steady band of followers that meets in Coshocton every year to discuss all things Bigfoot and Sasquatch.
There is a conference held annually in Coshocton, The Sasquatch Triangle Conference, that has big name guest speakers that travel all over the country looking for Bigfoot. Just in 2022, the conference was held at Lake Park and the featured speakers were Mike Miller and Mike Feltner who hosts The Ohio Night Stalkers, Steve Kulls, Eric Altman, and Todd Niess.
The Conference ran from 9:30 AM- 5:30 PM and had a great turnout at Lake Park. It generated interest in hundreds of people! While they weren’t actively hunting Bigfoot that day, they had heard stories and were very well-educated in how to search for Bigfoot.
There has not been a sighting for almost 20 years, that doesn’t deter people from looking! Here’s some helpful tips we’ve gathered to help you discover where the elusive creature has been hiding:
- Bigfoot ranges from 5 feet tall to 12 feet tall
- They could be anywhere from 300 pounds to 800+ pounds
- Typically they are skittish, but there’s been reports showing aggression
- They tend to hide deep in the woods, so maybe try camping and hiking?
- Some people say they can detect cameras and other technology equipment so be careful with that!
- If you find Bigfoot–keep your distance! We don’t want to scare him away from Coshocton.
One thing to keep in mind while Bigfoot hunting, Ohio is home to the “Ohio Grassman” which is a species that is similar to Bigfoot, but very aggressive! He has many reported sightings that date back to Native Americans and as recent as 2017. So, you might have an easier time finding the Grassman–but that doesn’t necessarily mean you want to.
Remember, above all else, safety comes first! Enjoy your hunting excursions, but leave an ER trip off the itinerary if you are able to. There are plenty of places to spot (and buy) things with Bigfoot on them around Coshocton shops, so even if you are unable to see a living and breathing Bigfoot, you don’t have to go home empty-handed–just try a Bigfoot hunting shopping trip instead!
Some shops that are a surefire way to find Bigfoot include Coshocton KOA Store, Roscoe General Store, and Coshocton Supply Co.! There are more places throughout the county, so happy hunting (and watch out for the Grassman)!
