The space
The cabin is situated on 4.5 beautiful hilly acres with pine trees, large rocks, and a creek with a culvert that’s big enough to walk through. There are a plethora of patios, picnic tables, benches, and a hammock for relaxation.
The home is open-concept with two bedrooms on the opposite ends of the loft. There are privacy screens between sleeping areas but be aware it is very open!
The bathroom also doubles as a utility room that contains an extensive water treatment system, well pump, boiler, dehumidifier, etc.
Things to do
Please enjoy our small section of family-friendly movies, while relaxing in the king-sized bed. This is reminiscent of childhood experiences playing borrowed VHS videos. You will also have access to an assortment of reading books, listening to old-fashioned records, and playing games. The peaceful environment promotes creativity, relaxation, and reconnecting with your loved ones. We hope you will enjoy your stay and leave refreshed.
Guest access
Weather permitting, an outdoor scavenger hunt is available for kids ages 6 to 96 on the 4-acre land the cabin sits on. This will help facilitate exploring all parts of the property along with some fun trivia. The property has a pasture to the north, the basin to the south down to the creek, and woods behind the cabin up to the railroad tracks are all part of it.
Other things to note
Please remember that you are staying in a unique house, not a run-of-the-mill hotel. You are in the country – some things are out of our control. There will be bugs in summer and sometimes the driveway is inaccessible following a big snowstorm in winter. In that case you can park at the bottom of the hill on the side of the county road.
Do not open any window that has a stained glass feature as the glass is fragile. If you do open a window, remember to relock it before you leave.
We have furnished the house with games, books and pretty things to enjoy so please supervise young children closely.
Do your part to keep ants at bay – absolutely no food in the loft. Sweep up food that gets spilled on the main floor.
Bring sandals or flip flops for the short walk to the hot tub.
The well water would be unusable if it weren’t for the elaborate water softener system. It functions on demand – the more water you use, the more likely it is to kick in to gear. And be forewarned – it is loud when it’s doing its job. It should complete the cycle in 10-30 minutes.
Enjoy the coffee and any pantry items you find. There is an air popper for popcorn.
